Before we introduce you to the crew, lets have a quick look at the shop’s history!
When you dive with Sunchaser Scuba, you continue the BVI scuba diving traditions of Kilbrides Underwater Tours (founded in 1975 by Bert Kilbride and the first PADI Resort Course in the BVI) with Captain Mike Van Blaricum and his team at Sunchaser Scuba.
Now lets meet the crew at our divecenter.
Michael Van Blaricum has been the owner of Sunchaser Scuba for over 20 years and is still active in the daily running of the dive center. Mike was born in 1948 and grew up in Michigan, USA. However, he kept heading south until he found a spot warm enough to live. He is a NAUI dive instructor with over 10,000 dives. Mike still enjoys diving, but has chosen to take a back seat on the daily diving. You will often find him manning the dive center, allowing the crew to have all the fun in the water.
Ben Williams is one of two PADI MSDT’s (dive instructor) who has been teaching since 2007. He was born in 1984 and is from the south of England. Before working at Sunchaser Scuba he has worked in Thailand, Mexico and Costa Rica. Ben is easily likable, very patient and easy going. Ben loves teaching all levels of dive courses, especially the beginner courses (DSD’s).
Kay Van Leuven is also a PADI MSDT (dive instructor) who has been teaching since 2009.Kay was born in 1985 and is from Belgium. Before working at Sunchaser Scuba she has worked in Ireland, France, Australia, Mexico and Costa Rica. Kay loves to teach all levels of dive courses and enjoys getting to know the customers. This is helped by her ability to teach in 5 languages (English, Dutch, Spanish, French and German).
Shon Pollock is a PADI Divemaster who has been recently certified in 2011. Shon was born in 1985 and is locally born in the BVI, making him one of a very few local Divemasters in the British Virgin Islands. Shon is very enthusiastic about all aspects of guiding and the underwater world.
