First, if you are looking for a beautiful place to dive, clear water, and amazing, untouched reefs, I think you’ll really enjoy Virgin Gorda, which is at the eastern edge of the BVI and is alone worth the trip.
Second, Sunchaser (dive instructors are Ben, Kay,; I’m copying them on this email!) was VERY professional, and for first-time divers, really put our minds at ease. As you may recall, Autumn (now my wife!) was pretty nervous about diving during the confined water course/classroom instruction in December. Ben and Kay thoroughly briefed us and the other divers, went over the equipment and had us set up our BCD and tanks, explained hand signals, and walked us through the plan for each dive as we hoped they would. They were very clear about safety, communication, and taking care of the beautiful sea life on the dive. The gear and the boat was all high quality, and they even de-fogged our goggles for us and helped us easily slip into our BCDs (as well as holding our masks/snorkels overnight for us!)!
Autumn and I were the only ones diving with Ben, so we did not feel like we’d be left behind or ignored at any point. He skillfully got us suited up, in the water safely, and comfortably diving in no time. We were quickly forgetting any nervousness and enjoying the beautiful chromis, balloon fish, yellow tail snapper, filefish, triggerfish, sergeant majors, parrotfish, angel fish, barracudas, southern stingrays, and hawksbill turtle (only a few feet away from us!), as well as the fire and brain coral, yellow tube and branching vase sponges!
We even had the pleasure of seeing Ben and Kay outside of the dive experience, having a drink and a nice chat with them at the Bitter End Yacht Club’s happy hour. These are fantastic people who, like you and the Atlantic Edge folks here in DC, really know how to instill a love of diving and a respect for marine life in new divers. Autumn went from being very reluctant to dive to certified and wanting to plan another dive trip (as I imagine happens with many people).
Bravo and many thanks to you (and your counterparts at Atlantic Edge) and to Sunchaser for really making our honeymoon a wonderful experience, in addition to giving us a new lifelong pursuit… Now to figure out how to afford more dive trips in beautiful places!
Cheers and happy 2012,
David & Autumn

Just wanted to tell you that my wife and I had a great time diving last
week. We did the resort course with Ben and he was fantastic. We’ll be
sure to call if we make it back to the BVI’s again while you’re both there.
Thanks again.

Diving: DO IT!! We did 3 2-tank dives with Kilbrides Sunchaser Scuba located at BEYC. Needless to say, we are spoiled for life. We dove the Chikuzan, the Wreck of the Rhone (amazing), the Invisibles (like being in an aquarium), the Chimney, etc. The dive staff, Ben and Kay, are world class and will make certain you have impressive dives.

My husband and I finished our scuba certification with Kay and Ben at Sunchaser Scuba in the BVI. The experience was fantastic. The dives were beautiful, and the staff was phenomenal. We had to practice putting our equipment together and taking it apart, but all the “certified” divers were completely pampered! I hope to go back and dive with them again very soon!
